“Mix on Campus” is coming to QUT; yet another great Microsoft event on campus. Microsoft Australia is inviting all tertiary students and lecturers from University and Tafe around Brisbane to come to this free web design and web developer event. It’s a great get together with fellow students and lecturers, learn the latest web trends and technologies, and hear from industry experts. Best of all, it’s FREE and straight off after exams!! Top that with some great give-away prices and it will be as awesome as Tech.Ed 2007 and Remix for academics. I’m not sure what technologies will be presented yet but expect a glance of Visual Studio 2008, Silverlight, and Expression.

it’s STILL not cheating

October 25, 2007 2 comments

Microsoft promotion “It’s not cheating” is back for university and Tafe students! Earlier this year, Microsoft launched this promotion to allow University and Tafe students to purchase the Ultimate version of Office 2007 for just $75. To be eligeable, students only need to provide a valid email address and currently enrolled at an educational institution. So hurry up if you have missed this offer earlier this year; offer ends May 15, 2008.

It is with great pleasure to have Peter Ward presenting SQL Server 2005 at the Queensland University of Technology on May the 4th.

“Peter Ward is WARDY IT Solutions Chief Technical Architect. Peter is an active member in the Australian SQL Server community and President of the Queensland SQL Server User Group. Peter is a highly regarded speaker at SQL Server events throughout Australia and is a sought after SQL Server consultant and trainer, providing solutions for some of the largest SQL Server sites in Australia. Peter is a regular author for several SQL Server websites and has published numerous articles in the monthly SQL Server newsletter that he produces along with the highly acclaimed WARDY IT Solutions SQL Server Blog. Peter has been selected as a Spotlight speaker for the 2007 SQL Pass Community Summit, the largest SQL Server event in the world and has recently been awarded as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for his technical excellence and commitment to the SQL Server Community” – http://wardyit.com/about.aspx

Students will have the privilege to understand the importance of SQL Server in the industry and tackle the best features of SQL Server 2005. They will also be introduced the SQL Server community based in Brisbane, the Queensland SQL Server User Group.

I find this event a great opportunity for QUT students to hear from a professional user of SQL Server sharing his valuable knowledge. It is also encouraging and motivating students starving of technology.

ImagineCup promo to ITB/N218 students

March 6, 2007 4 comments

This early morning (9am !!!) i presented the ImagineCup 2007 to the ITB/N218 – application programming class. 9am is probably too early for students to turn up – small audience of 20. There will be a repeat class this friday, hoping more students will come for this lecture.

Thanks Jack for the pictures and lecturer Michael Adams for allowing the presentation to happen.
